FAQ'S

What is required to take the Fundamentals of Kindermusik Training?

  • An e-mail address and access to the Internet are required, since the course is completed online.
  • While a music degree is not required; you must pass a vocal review that involves the memorization and singing of several prescribed songs unaccompanied and in a range appropriate for young children. The goal of the vocal review is to ensure that each candidate at least has the potential to lead a class in song. If there are weak areas in the singing voice, the mentor will instruct on how to build upon and correct these areas.

How does training work?

  • Training begins approximately two weeks from date of purchase.
  • You will be assigned a mentor, who is a Master Kindermusik educator, and placed into a Learning Group of 15 - 25 students, often from all over the world!
  • While the course is structured, you still work "on your own time" - the time most convenient to you - to complete at least one lesson each week.
  • The course is split into the following three phases of support:
    1. You'll be licensed to teach within the first ten weeks of training providing all required assignments have been completed. During these weeks your study will focus on Kindermusik philosophy, child development, setting goals for incorporating Kindermusik into your life, and applying for a license;
    2. The next five weeks are spent on marketing your program, practice-teaching, offering demo classes, and getting your studio organized as you await the start of the teaching semester.
    3. Support from Kindermusik continues through the Teacher's Lounge at www.kindermusik.com where you can share and learn from thousands of Kindermusik educators as you teach! Kindermusik Canada will also be right there with you, with helpful tools to guide your way, including the Licensed Educator Section of this website, which is loaded with reference information and customizable forms, ads, and more.
  • Fundamentals coursework requires an average of 4-6 hours per week to complete. In addition to your studies, you will spend time setting up your studio and promoting classes. The amount of time you spend will vary based on your individual needs and how easily you absorb the course content.
  • You will have several opportunities to interact "live" with your mentor and classmates via teleconference and online chat sessions.
  • You will have opportunities for practice teaching and where possible, you are encouraged to hook up with local Kindermusik educators for support and guidance.

How much does Fundamentals Training cost?

  • Training is a remarkably low investment of $399 USD. A payment plan is available and the course is fully refundable within 4 weeks of registration should you decide it's not right for you.

Are there any other fees?

  • To maintain your status as a licensed Kindermusik educator, there is an annual fee of approximately $150/yr. Since Kindermusik is copyrighted, one cannot teach or promote the program without a current license issued by Kindermusik International. Licensing, maintains the integrity of the program by ensuring that it is always offered according to standard.
  • Your annual licensing fee also includes all professional development training and convention fees offered by Kindermusik International!
  • If you are setting up your own program, you will need to be prepared to make some purchases of teaching materials, instruments and marketing materials before completion of your training.
